If you want your dog to look stylish and fashionable, you can get a dog party dress for her.  There are different styles to choose from so you can get a dog dress for specific occasions.  If you are going to a formal dinner party with your dog, you can get lace satin dresses, bow party dresses and other fancy dresses.  She can even dress up in a wedding dress for your wedding.

There are knit jumpers, leopard print dresses and even a biker and vest set.  For a more personal touch, you can get plain t-shirts and iron-on decals to decorate the shirt.  There are many decal designs to choose from so you can put in whatever design you like.  You can really dress up your pet and take them along on every party or event you have.

Socialization and Your Puppy

Dogs are social beings just like us. Dogs go through stages of socialization. It is important that they learn how to deal with other people and dogs early so that they are not fearful of them and know how to react to them socially.

Just like human children, puppies have a formulative stage for socialization that is critical for their development. This occurs between the ages of 4 to 12 weeks. Studies have shown that puppies that were denied human contact during that time period were fearful of people and almost impossible to train. Puppies need to be picked up and exposed to movements, noises and smells of everyday human life. The breeder should make sure the puppy is exposed to a wide variety of domestic stimuli. Ideally the puppy should be handled by a range of different people.

When you bring your new puppy home, you will want to continue your puppy’s socialization. What better way to do this than to dress your puppy up in some cute dog clothes and take him for a walk.  It is guaranteed that people will want to socialize with you and your puppy.

Dog Clothes are So Cute

Whenever I see a dog in a little jacket or scarf, I just melt. Dogs dressed like little people are my favorite thing. The best is when someone puts a hat on their pet and it bobs when they move. Isn’t that just divine? Dog sweatshirts help little and hairless dogs in the cold and they are just so darn adorable.

Yesterday I saw a bulldog wearing a poofy pink jacket with a golf cap like a sporty Jackie O.  I thought it was so wonderful that this lovely lady put the time and effort into her dog that she does into herself.  It is so endearing.  I sat and chatted awhile with her and she was very interesting

The Dog Sweater

Keeping your dog warm while inside the house is very important too. In our home we keep the thermostat at 65 degrees to help keep down heating costs. It can get cold and drafty on the floor. Remember, heat rises, so down where dogs are at, it is going to be even colder.  Dogs need a warm, soft place to lie down.

I like to wear a sweater in the home on these cold days to help stay warm. You may want to consider getting a dog sweater to help your “best friend” stay warm and cozy too.

Your Dog and the Cold Weather

Dog CoatThis winter season has been a rough one. All across the country temperatures have been lower than average. It has rained and snowed much more than we are accustomed to. Dogs with short hair are not equipped to handle such cold weather conditions. Dogs can suffer from hypothermia and frostbite too.

If you have not gotten a dog coat or jacket for your dog, you should consider doing so. For a short haired dog, make sure the coat or sweater has a high collar or turtleneck with coverage from the base of the tail to the belly.

Selecting a Dog Rain Coat

Be sure to measure your dog before ordering dog clothes. It’s quite important that the clothes fit comfortably. They should attach tightly enough that it doesn’t slip off, yet be loose enough that it doesn’t dig into your dog’s skin.

Be sure the coats and sweaters are right for your type of dog and your local weather and will protect your pet from the elements. And don’t forget the dog rain coat for the cold rainy weather.

Consider boots for dogs that are in the colder snowy climates as the ice and snow and salt are hard on a dogs paw.

Dogs love walking with their owners. They let you know when it’s time to suit up and put on your sneakers by wagging their tails when it’s time to go outside. Here are some useful things you should know about dog walking:

~Keep him on a leash so he can’t get away easily as this might cause problems in case he chases a child or other dogs
~Check for dog restrictions in areas you plan to walk in
~Dress him up in a dog rain coat when you go walking out in the rain
~Carry plastic bags to scoop any poop in case your pet drops one in the sidewalk
~Bring along water for both you and your dog
~Rest and find a shady spot every now and then
