Shadow
A day in the life of Shadow. Shadow is a black mix breed, possibly part Lab. Shadow was adopted from an animal rescue and so we are unsure exactly how old Shadow might be. We think that Shadow might be an older dog, she seems to be having some aging problems.
Her back legs and hip area are causing her some issues. She has difficulty getting up from a laying position as well as walking. Her hips don’t support her all the time and so sometimes she falls for no apparent reason. Part of theissue is that we have hardwood floors adding to the problem because they are slick. When Shadow wears dog booties with non-skid pads on her feet, she is able to walk on hardwood floors without falling.
Tips for Potty Training
The following guidelines will help in toilet training your puppy. Take your puppy outside and wait there with it – even if it’s raining… you can always dress your puppy in a dog rain coat.
Take your puppy to the same place to relieve itself at the same time everyday. Make sure to praise your puppy. Soon it will be on a schedule and will know where and what to do when it gets there!!!
These are simple rules of training, but very effective.
A Tip for Park Play
Put your pooch in some stylish dog shorts for fun in the park!!! Taking a few dog toys to the park with you and your dog will insure fun for all. A ball on a rope is a great toy for the park. The rope attachment means that there is always a part of the toy that you can hold without fear of teeth accidents.
Some people find that a ball on a rope is easier to throw accurately than an ordinary ball. It can provide hours of fun if you keep it as a dog “outside only” toy. Your dog will begin to recognize the toy as an outside play toy. You will understand what I mean when you see your dog “smile” at the sight of this favorite toy. Park On!!!
Beautiful Eyes
When you look into your dog’s eyes, you want to see clear eyes…if there is a “milky” appearance that might be an indication of sight issues. If the eyes are matted or have a goopy substance it is possible that the eyes may be cleared up with over the counter medications sold in pet stores.
Check your dogs eyes to make sure they are “smooth” and “glossy.” If there are any types of scrapes or pitting, that might indicate abrasions of some type. An abrasion or ulcer does require immediate attention. A beautiful dog sees a beautiful world. Dog T-shirts LOOK great on great looking dogs.
Tips for Teeth
Examining your dog’s teeth can give you an approximation of age as well as keeping your dog’s smile bright. You want to be sure there is not severe plaque build up and you want to watch for periodontal disease. Periodontal disease can cause secondary infection and effect internal organs.
Bad plaque build up appears as a brownish gray crust build up, which is most commonly found on the dog’s back teeth. You’ll want your dog to have clean bright teeth to show off while wearing the new dog visor made for shade in the summer fun.
