Alphamanship and your dog.  Try to keep in mind that although your dog may be “part of the family,” in truth your pet is a hairy, four legged cave dwelling pack animal.  Keeping control of your pet not only makes you happy but it makes your dog happy.  Dogs live to please their master.  Having a well behaved animal is essential to having a happy relationship between you and your dog.  Loving your dog does not mean letting your dog rule the “roost,” so to speak.

You should feed your dog twice daily and at the same time morning and evening.  Being fed is looked at as a reward by your pet whose natural instincts would be to hunt it’s own prey.  In a pack situation there is always a leader, and the leader is the one that eats first, decides where it will sleep and is always the one that initiates any kind of dog games.  Once the leader has eaten the other dogs are allowed to partake, once the leader finds the place it will sleep the other dogs arrange themselves around the leader accordingly.  If play is initiated by the leader then all may play, but when the leader takes the “toy” and the playing is over, then so are the dog games.

There are three steps to being the Alpha in your dogs life.  You control the food, where your pet sleeps and you initiate any games and when you are done, then you put the toy away.  It may not seem that easy, but in  sense it is.  Your pet is your pride and putting dog clothes on your pet absolutely enhances your pets appearance and is not only cute but safe.
